Foreperson – Road Maintenance & Construction

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Foreperson to lead crews on a variety of road maintenance and construction projects across the Thames region. The role involves overseeing daily onsite activities, ensuring safety, productivity and quality, and collaborating with supervisors, engineers and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate crews on road maintenance and construction works.
• Plan daily work activities, allocate resources and set site requirements.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices and a strong safety culture.
• Deliver work to quality standards, including pavement, drainage, earthworks, sealing and road repairs.
• Liaise with project teams to report progress and manage on‑site challenges.
• Provide hands‑on operational support when required.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and company procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Strong experience in road maintenance and/or road construction.
• Previous leadership, foreperson or supervisory experience.
• Solid understanding of civil construction methodologies.
• Proactive, safety‑first mindset.
• Excellent communication and team‑coordination abilities.

Required skills

• Full driver licence (Class 2 preferred; White‑Tag Rig operation advantageous).
• Knowledge of civil construction techniques for pavement, drainage, earthworks and road repairs.
• Machinery competency for road construction equipment.
