Food Safety & Brand Protection Auditor (Independent Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Food Safety & Brand Protection Auditor to conduct independent audits for Quick Service Restaurants and hospitality venues across the Wellington region. The role is field‑based, offering a flexible schedule while supporting leading food and hospitality brands to maintain the highest safety and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform independent food safety audits at QSR and hospitality sites, assessing compliance with hygiene, operational and brand standards.
• Identify risks, recommend improvements, and produce detailed audit reports.
• Support clients in strengthening food safety culture and reducing operational risk.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with client teams and site management.
• Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and high ethical standards throughout all audit activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Environmental Science or related field.
• Current Exemplar Global Food Safety Auditor qualification.
• Current BRCGS Lead Auditor qualification.
• Proven experience auditing high‑risk food environments and participating in witness audits for regulatory authorities.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety systems and quality management principles.
• Excellent written communication and report‑writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple audit assignments.
