Fixed-Term Accountant – Finance Team

About the role

Veolia is seeking an experienced Accountant on a fixed‑term basis to join its New Zealand finance team. This hands‑on role supports the Manager of Financial Accounting and the FP&A Manager, contributing to core financial operations across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with month‑end close, preparing and posting journal entries.
• Manage end‑to‑end CAPEX processes, including IFRS 16 compliance, tracking, capitalisation and valuation.
• Produce monthly CAPEX dashboard reports and oversee asset acquisition, disposal and transfers.
• Prepare revenue accruals, generate and post customer invoices in SAP HANA.
• Perform inventory reconciliation and aged analysis.
• Support budget preparation, data collation and audit information for internal and external reviews.
• Collaborate with contract managers to ensure data quality and drive process improvements.
• Develop internal finance training modules and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting, reporting and internal controls.
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline.
• Working towards or holding CPA/CA affiliation.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proactive, autonomous problem‑solver with a positive attitude.
