Farm Worker – Lambing Shepherd (Fixed Term)

About the role

This six‑month fixed‑term role supports on‑farm science trials at Invermay Farm, a busy research facility near Dunedin. You will work alongside a small team to apply and expand your farming knowledge while contributing to scientific research on sheep, deer and cattle.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with general farm duties, livestock management and farm maintenance.
• Participate in intensive lambing, ensuring all events are fully recorded.
• Support field servicing of experiments to follow trial design protocols.
• Maintain field resources to functional standards and uphold good farming practice.
• Collaborate with science teams to achieve research objectives.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of farm experience with solid knowledge of animal health, stock handling and record‑keeping.
• Current full driver’s licence.
• Motivated, good communicator and able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safe workplace behaviour.

Required skills

• Experience with TruTest (advantage).
