Facilities Technician

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Facilities Technician to maintain and operate the depot’s facilities and infrastructure. Reporting to the Depots and Facility Delivery Manager, you will ensure that plant, equipment and building assets remain safe, reliable and fit for purpose.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and building systems.
• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair assets including plumbing, carpentry, painting and grounds upkeep.
• Support facility shutdowns, equipment upgrades and refurbishment projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in Maximo and other systems.
• Assist with asset inspections, condition monitoring and contractor management.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and service requests.
• Promote a strong health, safety and quality culture.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building or related field (NZQA Level 4 or equivalent).
• Relevant practising licence where applicable.
• Experience in facilities, plant or industrial maintenance.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.
• Good computer literacy and experience with maintenance management systems.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork and quality outcomes.
