Executive Director – Hotel Industry Body

About the role

The Hotel Council Aotearoa (HCA) is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organisation through its next phase of growth. Based in Auckland or Wellington, you will shape strategy, drive advocacy, and represent the interests of around 250 hotels and related partners across New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the council’s strategic direction and advocacy agenda.
• Engage with senior decision‑makers, policymakers and industry stakeholders to influence key regulatory and commercial outcomes.
• Oversee financial performance, budgeting and operational efficiency in a lean organisational setting.
• Lead membership engagement, event delivery and communications initiatives.
• Strengthen internal systems and processes to support sustainable growth.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience, preferably with a board reporting line.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen in a small‑team environment.
• Credibility within the hotel sector or closely related industries.
• Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy.
• Highly developed communication and influencing abilities.
