Executive Director – Financial Institutions Group (Banks)

About the role

As Executive Director of the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) at ANZ, you will lead the bank’s relationships with a portfolio of local and international banks and payment service providers. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior decision‑makers, shaping strategy, identifying growth opportunities and delivering market‑leading solutions that create long‑term value for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deepen relationships with banks and payment providers, serving as a senior adviser to executives.
• Develop and execute client strategies that increase revenue, strengthen partnerships and grow ANZ’s share of wallet.
• Originate and deliver complex banking solutions by leveraging expertise across markets, transaction banking, financing and the broader institutional business.
• Identify emerging client, industry and regulatory trends and translate insights into commercial opportunities.
• Champion strong risk‑management practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory, governance, credit and customer obligations.
• Contribute to the overall FIG strategy, mentor team members and foster a collaborative, high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• Extensive relationship‑banking experience with financial institutions.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to influence outcomes across complex stakeholder groups.
• Proven track record of driving revenue growth and partnership development.
• Excellent understanding of risk management, regulatory and governance requirements.
