Estimator – Construction & Infrastructure

About the role

Downer is seeking a skilled Estimator to join its Southern region team. You will play a pivotal part in delivering accurate, competitive tender submissions for construction and infrastructure projects across New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess local market opportunities to support regional growth.
• Monitor workload and resource capacity to inform tender decisions.
• Apply consistent estimating methodologies and reporting standards.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate project conditions and resource requirements.
• Prepare compliant tender submissions and ensure they are delivered on time.
• Maintain comprehensive tender documentation and records.
• Embed health, safety, quality and environmental considerations in all submissions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Estimator in construction, infrastructure or a related sector.
• Strong understanding of tendering processes, pricing strategies and commercial frameworks.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
• High level accuracy and attention to detail in cost estimation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple deadlines and work well under pressure.
