Estimating Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead the estimating function for large civil infrastructure projects in Auckland. You will ensure cost estimates are accurate, competitive and commercially robust while shaping bid strategies and supporting tender decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead estimating work for major civil infrastructure tenders from start to finish.
• Prepare and verify cost estimates to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
• Manage and support the estimating team.
• Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to gather pricing data and build estimates.
• Develop bid strategies and tender pricing plans.
• Review contract terms, risks and tender requirements.
• Support handover to delivery teams after successful bids.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 15+ years of estimating experience in civil infrastructure.
• 10+ years working in the New Zealand construction market.
• 5+ years as a senior or lead estimator on major projects.
• Strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Expert proficiency in Candy estimating software.
• Strong commercial sense and understanding of pricing, contracts and risk.
