ESOL Teacher – Start Term 2 or 3 (Negotiable)

About the role

Rangitoto College is looking for an enthusiastic ESOL Teacher to deliver New Zealand Curriculum English in an ESOL context. The appointment will start in Term 2 or Term 3 of 2026, with the exact start date to be negotiated.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver ESOL English lessons aligned with the NZC and English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP).
• Prepare students for NCEA English assessments and, where applicable, the IB Diploma Programme (English A or B).
• Design and adapt course materials for secondary NZC English learning areas and EL unit standards.
• Contribute to the college’s co‑curricular life by supporting sports or other activities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience teaching English within the NZC framework.
• Strong knowledge of the English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP).
• Ability to prepare learners for NCEA and/or IB English examinations.
• Willingness to engage in co‑curricular activities and support beginning teachers through the PCT programme.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NZC English teaching standards.
• Familiarity with ELLP, NCEA English assessment criteria, and IB English curricula.
• Experience in secondary course design for English learning areas.
