Environmental & Sustainability Manager

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and sustainability strategy for the Northland Corridor Warkworth‑to‑Te Hana project. Reporting to the Project Director, you will embed environmental requirements into design, procurement and construction while ensuring compliance with New Zealand regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Own project‑wide EMS implementation and drive continual improvement.
• Translate the sustainability strategy into measurable plans, milestones and performance reporting.
• Integrate environmental requirements into design, procurement and contract documents.
• Lead and develop a team of seven environment and sustainability specialists.
• Manage monitoring, consultant and sustainability budgets.
• Oversee audits, inspections, management reviews and assurance activities.
• Direct incident response, investigations and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related discipline.
• Professional accreditation such as CEnvP or equivalent.
• ISC Accredited Professional status.
• Working knowledge of the Resource Management Act (RMA) and Fast‑track Approvals Act.
• Experience on complex civil infrastructure projects, preferably PPP.
