Engineer – Structures

About the role

WSP is seeking a motivated Structural Engineer to join its Christchurch team. This position offers the chance to develop technical capability while contributing to a diverse pipeline of projects across the Property & Buildings sector.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the design, investigation and documentation of structural solutions for a range of projects.
• Support project delivery through planning, coordination and reporting activities.
• Prepare fee proposals, design briefs and project documentation.
• Contribute to programme tracking, budgeting and quality assurance.
• Undertake site observations and support construction‑phase activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Build strong client relationships and assist with business development opportunities.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering (Washington Accord or equivalent).
• Approximately 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Solid grounding in structural design principles and engineering fundamentals.
• Exposure to seismic engineering and understanding of New Zealand design standards.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach and willingness to take ownership.
• Current clean driver’s licence.
