Electrical Tutor – Teach and Mentor Future Electricians

About the role

Skills Group is seeking an experienced electrician to join its training team as an Electrical Tutor. You will deliver Skills‑approved courses, support learners in night classes, and help shape a future‑fit workforce while staying connected to the electrical industry.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and assess block or day‑release electrical courses.
• Support night‑class delivery and contribute to ongoing course development.
• Provide coaching and academic support to students.
• Monitor student progress, report outcomes and maintain training centre resources.
• Assist with workshop upkeep and model Health & Safety best practices.

Required profile

• Current New Zealand Electrical Registration (Full Practising Licence, Inspector’s Licence or equivalent).
• Hold or be working towards 4098 and unit standard 11551 (Skills Group will support attainment).
• Strong practical experience in the electrical industry.
• Ideally experience in adult education or training (support available).
• Excellent communication and coaching abilities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
