Electrical Engineering Lecturer – Full‑time at Wigan & Leigh College

About the role

Wigan & Leigh College is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Lecturer to join its Pagefield Centre of Engineering Excellence. You will deliver both practical and theoretical teaching across Level 3 to degree‑level programmes, with a strong focus on electrical power engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Electrical and Electronic Engineering courses from Level 3 up to BEng(Hons) degree level.
• Deliver hands‑on laboratory sessions and theory lectures centred on electrical power systems.
• Assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of attendance and achievement.
• Support students in progressing to apprenticeships, employment or further study.
• Contribute to curriculum development, programme review and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist with Open Evenings, recruitment events and ensure specialist learning environments are safe and well‑organised.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Power or a related discipline.
• Current or recent industry experience in electrical engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical power and broader engineering practice.
• Experience in teaching, training, coaching or mentoring learners.
• Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
• Level 2 English and maths, or commitment to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.
