Editorial Research Journalist (Remote, Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an Editorial Research Journalist to work remotely on a contract basis, contributing original news stories, features and in‑depth articles. The role involves independent research, interviewing sources and delivering clear, accurate content for a diverse audience.

Key responsibilities

• Research, pitch and develop original news stories, features and long‑form articles.
• Conduct interviews, gather firsthand insights and verify facts using authoritative sources.
• Write clear, compelling and accurate copy tailored to different audiences.
• Edit and proofread articles to ensure clarity, consistency and adherence to editorial standards.
• Collaborate with editors, designers and other journalists to improve content quality.
• Monitor current events, trends and issues relevant to assigned beats.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a journalist with a strong portfolio of published work.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to conduct interviews and synthesize complex information.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a remote setting.
• High curiosity, initiative and critical thinking.
• Solid understanding of media law, ethics and best practices.
