About the role
AUT is seeking a New Zealand‑registered Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher to deliver a specialised five‑week orientation programme for newly arrived former refugee children and their families. The role is part‑time (0.8 FTE) on parental leave and is based at the Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a five‑week curriculum that builds foundational learning, confidence and cultural understanding.
- Teach in a small, supportive, culturally diverse classroom setting.
- Prepare children and their whānau for a smooth transition into New Zealand school life.
- Collaborate with AUT staff, community partners and families to tailor learning experiences.
Required profile
- Registered Early Childhood teacher in New Zealand.
- Experience working with refugee or culturally diverse learners.
- Strong commitment to inclusive, student‑centred education.
- Flexible, collaborative and able to adapt to changing needs.
