Duty Manager

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Duty Manager to lead day‑to‑day operations at a busy leisure and sports centre in Wellington, Somerset. The role focuses on Front of House management, membership sales and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for members and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee centre operations, including health and safety compliance.
• Drive front‑of‑house activities and achieve membership sales targets.
• Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team while upholding company values.
• Manage cost control, budgeting and income generation across all business areas.
• Ensure high standards of customer service and resolve member enquiries promptly.
• Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines for operational reporting.

Required profile

• Experience in leisure centre or similar hospitality environment, preferably with front‑of‑house and sales exposure.
• Strong leadership abilities and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
• Excellent verbal, written and IT communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to obtain National Pool Lifeguard, First Aid at Work and Pool Plant Operator qualifications within a set timescale if not already held.
• Clear DBS check clearance prior to start.
