Duty Manager – Hotel Operations

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Duty Manager to lead the Front Office team at Novotel & Ibis Rotorua Lakeside. In this role you will ensure smooth day‑to‑day hotel operations and deliver memorable guest experiences in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hotel operations during your shift, guaranteeing seamless guest service.
• Motivate and support Front Office staff to achieve high standards of hospitality.
• Act as the first point of contact for guest enquiries, requests and feedback, resolving issues promptly.
• Maintain presentation, service and operational excellence across all areas of the hotel.
• Coordinate with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
• Monitor safety, security and compliance procedures.
• Assist in training, coaching and developing team members.
• Support occupancy, revenue and guest‑satisfaction targets.

Required profile

• Enjoys working with people and stays calm, positive and solution‑focused during busy periods.
• Previous experience in a Duty Manager, Assistant Manager or Front Office leadership role.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities.
• Confidence to make decisions and lead a team.
• Willingness to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Current New Zealand Manager’s Certificate (or ability to obtain) is advantageous.
• Current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
