Distribution Line Mechanic – Full Time

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Distribution Line Mechanic to join our Contracting team in Oamaru. This hands‑on position involves work on both overhead and underground electricity networks, covering construction, maintenance and fault response across North Otago and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain overhead distribution networks up to 110kV (110kV not essential).
• Work on underground distribution networks up to 33kV.
• Respond to faults, including participation in the after‑hours roster.
• Assist supervisors and leading hands in planning and organising work.
• Complete tasks safely, on time and to a high standard.
• Occasionally work away from home on projects outside North Otago.

Required profile

• Current New Zealand Electrical Workers Registration Board registration as a Distribution Line Mechanic.
• Experience constructing and maintaining overhead and underground distribution networks.
• Current Glove and Barrier and Hot‑Stick certification to 33kV (not essential).
• Full New Zealand Class 1 driver licence.
• Willingness to obtain heavy‑vehicle licence classes 2‑5 if not already held.
• Strong commitment to safety and ability to work well in a crew.
