Director of Football – Lead Club’s On‑Field Strategy

About the role

Wanaka FC is looking for a Director of Football to shape the club’s on‑field identity and drive performance across all levels, from the senior men’s team to the youngest academy players.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Head Coach of the Wanaka FC men’s first team competing in the Southern League.
• Run and coach the year‑round Academy programme, developing the next generation of talent.
• Create and implement clear player development pathways from junior football to the senior men’s side.
• Direct, mentor and educate the club’s coaching staff across multiple age groups.
• Oversee all football programmes – junior, youth and senior – throughout the year.
• Contribute to the strategic development of football at Wanaka FC.

Required profile

• Hold an A‑Licence or B‑Licence coaching qualification.
• Proven experience as a head coach at senior or representative level.
• Strong passion for player development and a track record of improving individuals and teams.
• Ability to lead, inspire and organise a coaching team across various programmes.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand and a current NZ driver’s licence.
• Willingness to relocate to Wanaka and become part of the local community.
