Director – Auckland Future Fund

About the role

Auckland Council is appointing an additional director to the board of Auckland Future Fund Trustee Limited (AFFTL). The role will help shape Auckland’s wealth strategy, oversee the fund’s performance and ensure sustainable long‑term value for current and future Aucklanders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide governance oversight of the fund’s investment strategy and risk management.
• Evaluate asset‑allocation decisions, fund manager performance and fee structures.
• Contribute commercial and entrepreneurial perspectives to board discussions.
• Support decisions that integrate climate considerations and Treaty of Waitangi principles.
• Uphold public‑sector accountability and financial stewardship.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial markets and investment management, with a proven track record overseeing large, multi‑asset portfolios.
• Deep understanding of governance frameworks, fiduciary duties and fund policy development.
• Commercial leadership experience in a successful private or listed enterprise.
• Strong commitment to Auckland’s community, Māori outcomes and climate integration.
