Databricks Architect – Lead Data Practice

About the role

We are seeking a senior Databricks Architect to lead our client’s Data Practice in Auckland. The role sits within a fast‑growing Databricks Center of Excellence and combines technical leadership with business development to deliver high‑impact analytics solutions for clients across healthcare, finance, life sciences and government.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with data leaders to drive sales, recruiting, account management and consulting excellence.
• Act as the Databricks subject‑matter expert, guiding clients on architecture, data engineering and scalable analytics.
• Lead and mentor engineering teams, ensuring best practices in data management, performance optimisation and cloud‑native design.
• Manage project risk, budgeting, deliverables and executive alignment.
• Develop proposals, statements of work and growth strategies for existing accounts.
• Provide technical and architectural guidance on modern data platforms and cloud solutions.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture and analytics.
• Proven leadership in delivering large‑scale Databricks projects.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technical concepts into client value.
• Experience mentoring teams and fostering a culture of learning.
