Databricks Architect

About the role

Our client, a leading ANZ AI and Data Analytics consulting firm based in Auckland, is seeking a senior Databricks Architect to lead its Data Practice. The role sits within a growing Databricks Center of Excellence and will drive the delivery of end‑to‑end data lakehouse solutions for clients across healthcare, life sciences, financial services and government.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with data leaders to drive sales, recruiting, account management, consulting and operational excellence across the practice.
• Lead and deliver Databricks projects as part of the Databricks Center of Excellence.
• Act as a Databricks subject‑matter expert, supporting business development and guiding clients on architecture, data engineering and scalable analytics.
• Develop proposals, statements of work and strategies to expand the firm’s footprint within existing accounts.
• Provide technical and architectural guidance on Databricks, modern data platforms and cloud‑native solutions to clients and internal teams.
• Mentor engineering teams, promote best practices in data management and performance optimisation.
• Manage project risk, including planning, budgeting, deliverables and executive‑level alignment.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering and cloud‑based analytics.
• Proven leadership experience delivering large‑scale data lakehouse solutions.
• Strong business‑first mindset with the ability to translate technical concepts into client value.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
