Database Analyst

About the role

Deloitte’s Information Technology Services team is seeking a Database Analyst to join its Auckland office. You will work closely with internal teams and business units to design, optimise and support enterprise‑level SQL Server databases and data‑warehouse solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement databases for local applications and system integrations.
• Collaborate with developers throughout the SDLC and provide Level 2‑3 support for database issues.
• Performance‑tune complex queries and manage routine maintenance, patches and releases.
• Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery through backups, restores and security monitoring.
• Contribute to data‑warehousing projects, optimise cloud data infrastructure and implement ETL processes.
• Own major incidents, resolve escalated problems and maintain comprehensive documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of full‑time IT experience in database administration and data management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure PaaS SQL and data‑warehousing concepts.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS and SSRS.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, slowly changing dimensions and data normalization.
