Data Specialist

About the role

The Data Specialist will support Council staff in meeting data and information management procedures, governance requirements and relevant legislation. You will provide technology solutions, advice and guidance for data management across the organisation, helping to improve data quality and automate processes.

Key responsibilities

• Create and analyse SQL views, triggers and stored procedures using data from multiple corporate systems.
• Identify requirements and automate data processes using tools such as FME, SQL and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
• Design relational databases and data models with SQL and PowerDesigner.
• Support Information Stewards in troubleshooting and correcting data issues using data‑management tools.
• Collaborate with business and functional analysts to ensure proper integration of data processes with IT systems.
• Define technical requirements for system maintenance and future functionality.
• Provide technical support to users on data structures, management, and SQL scripts.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in data management, data engineering or a related role.
• Strong understanding of data governance and information management best practices.
• Ability to work with multiple business units and translate requirements into technical solutions.
