Data Engineering Architect

About the role

Slalom is looking for a Data Engineering Architect to join its newly launched Auckland office. You will design and build modern data platforms that enable end‑to‑end data lifecycles, supporting analytics, machine‑learning, and automation across cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate in small, autonomous teams to design and deliver data solutions on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Architect next‑generation data platforms using cloud data warehouses, distributed processing engines, and event‑streaming technologies.
• Assess client environments, identify technical challenges, and define future‑state architectures.
• Lead design workshops with client and Slalom technical teams to reach consensus on solution approaches.
• Break down complex development tasks, ensure timely delivery, and maintain high‑quality standards.
• Participate in pre‑sales activities, helping shape proposals and estimate project effort.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing data architectures for enterprise clients.
• Strong consultative skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Curiosity and a willingness to experiment with emerging data technologies.
