Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join Southern Cross Healthcare’s National Support Office in Auckland. The role will shape the future of data across one of New Zealand’s largest healthcare organisations by building modern, scalable data solutions that enable trusted insights and better decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data infrastructure and pipelines for efficient processing, storage and retrieval.
• Create data models, database schemas and develop ELT/ETL processes.
• Optimise data performance and ensure data quality, security and governance.
• Integrate third‑party data sources and APIs into the data platform.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support analytics and reporting needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 6 + years of experience as a Data Engineer, preferably on cloud data platforms.
• Strong expertise with Snowflake, Microsoft Azure and dbt.
• Deep knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing and database management systems.
• Experience with cloud‑based data solutions and data engineering best practices.
• Understanding of data security, governance and quality standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
