Data Engineer - Consultant

About the role

Fusion5 is seeking a hands‑on Data Engineer to join its New Zealand Data & Analytics team. You will design, build and deliver modern data platforms for leading organisations across Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, working with Microsoft Fabric, Azure and Databricks.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end data pipelines, lakehouse/medallion architectures and data warehouses.
• Develop Power BI reports and semantic models where required.
• Embed data quality, security and governance practices into all deliverables.
• Support data migration projects, including CRM and ERP data moves.
• Provide post‑go‑live support alongside the Managed Services team.
• Leverage AI tools to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Contribute to reusable assets, standards and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of solid data engineering experience.
• Proven ability to own delivery workstreams with limited supervision.
• Strong consulting mindset with a focus on quality and client success.
