Dairy Farm Assistant – Organic Dairy Operation

About the role

Join Aspiring Dairy, a high‑performing organic dairy farm located just outside Foxton. As a Dairy Farm Assistant you will work alongside an experienced Farm Manager, gaining hands‑on experience across all aspects of a modern dairy operation.

Key responsibilities

• Milking cows using a 60‑bail rotary dairy and maintaining high milk quality standards.
• Monitoring animal health, welfare, and observing stock behaviour.
• Assisting with calving, mating, and young‑stock management.
• Feeding livestock and managing pasture rotation.
• Handling effluent management and ensuring environmental compliance.
• Maintaining fences, water systems, weed control, and general farm infrastructure.
• Operating tractors and other farm machinery where required.
• Keeping the work environment safe, tidy, and efficient.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, dependable and enjoys outdoor work.
• Interest in building a career in the dairy industry.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and good communication skills.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental best practice.
• Current New Zealand Restricted or Full driver licence.

Required skills

• Tractor operation and basic machinery use.
• Effluent management and environmental compliance.
• Fencing, water system maintenance and weed control.
