Dairy Farm Assistant (Fixed-term)

About the role

Join the high‑performing team at Bassets Dairy as a Dairy Farm Assistant. This fixed‑term position runs until mid‑December 2026 and involves hands‑on work across all aspects of dairy farm operations, supporting animal welfare and production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with milking, calving, and feeding of livestock.
• Manage effluent, spray treatments, and maintain fencing.
• Support day‑to‑day farm tasks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coach and support junior or new staff as required.

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and take initiative in a fast‑paced farm environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive attitude with a strong commitment to animal welfare, health and safety.
• Current NZ restricted or full driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Experience or strong interest in dairy farming operations.
