Customer Services Officer

About the role

Join the Buller District Council team in Reefton as a Customer Services Officer on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. You will be the first point of contact for residents and visitors, delivering friendly and professional service while supporting a range of council functions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external customers in person, by phone and email.
• Provide accurate, up‑to‑date information on onsite services and respond to enquiries with clarity and patience.
• Support administrative processes such as dog registrations, rates, debtor enquiries, service requests and library services.
• Perform cashier duties, receipt payments and balance tills.
• Share local knowledge with visitors and promote Reefton’s attractions and activities.
• Assist with general cleaning and facility upkeep as required.

Required profile

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with a friendly, helpful and patient approach.
• Reliability, professionalism and a positive attitude.
