Credit Controller – Accounts Receivable Specialist

About the role
We are seeking a Credit Controller to join our National Finance team in Auckland. The role supports the accounts receivable process, maintains customer account records, and works closely with the Credit and Collections Manager to safeguard cash flow and minimise credit risk.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Credit and Collections Manager with cash collections and client credit checks.
- Reconcile invoices with payments received, ensuring accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records and filing within the document management system.
- Prepare and send monthly statements.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and disputes in coordination with internal teams and clients.
- Identify and recommend process improvements for the accounts receivable function.
- Provide backup and support to the Credit and Collections Manager and the wider finance team.
Required profile
- Minimum three years’ experience in a credit control role.
- Experience in a legal, accounting, consulting or other partnership‑based professional services firm (preferred).
- Confident, professional communication skills with an excellent phone manner.
- Methodical, organised, high attention to detail and highly numerate.
- Ability to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- ‘Can‑do’ attitude, team player willing to go the extra mile.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience with financial or practice management systems such as Aderant or Elite (advantageous).
