Court Security Manager

About the role

The Court Security Manager leads one of ten security teams across the central region, ensuring a safe and secure environment for the public to access justice in New Zealand. This permanent, full‑time position is based at the Tauranga District & High Court and may involve deployment to other courts as operational needs arise.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coach and mentor team members to reach their full potential.
• Manage day‑to‑day security operations in a complex, high‑risk environment.
• Assess operational risks and make swift, confident decisions.
• Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including NZ Police, Department of Corrections and Te Oranga Tamariki.
• Ensure safe and professional court operations.
• Complete a three‑week residential training course in Wellington within three months of starting (if external).

Required profile

• Strong leadership capabilities.
• Customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to de‑escalate conflict.
• Physical fitness for full‑contact officer safety techniques.
• Confidence using technology.
• Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
