Court Registry Officer

About the role
In this six‑month fixed‑term position you will join the Court Registry team at the Ministry of Justice, supporting the smooth operation of the court and interacting with judges, jurors and the public.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate court proceedings, including introducing judges in English and Te Reo Māori, managing jurors and handling general court administration.
- Coordinate case management tasks to ensure the judiciary and parties have the necessary information and logistics for timely hearings.
- Provide customer service to the public and stakeholders via face‑to‑face, telephone and email enquiries.
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders across the justice system and communicate confidently with judges in the courtroom and chambers.
Required profile
- Highly detail‑oriented and observant, with the ability to manage accurate case information.
- Self‑aware and able to work both independently and as part of a team across varied situations.
- Strong multi‑tasking skills, able to shift quickly between repetitive and priority tasks.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing legislation and court processes.
- Resilience when handling sensitive cases and high‑volume periods.
Required skills
- No specific technical skills required; strong organisational and communication abilities are essential.
