Court Registry Officer

About the role

As a Court Registry Officer in Invercargill you will be a key part of the justice system, supporting the smooth operation of the District and High Court. Working closely with judges, lawyers and the public, you will ensure court processes run efficiently and accurately.

Key responsibilities

• Manage case files, ensuring data is accurate, up‑to‑date and entered correctly.
• Run court sessions, opening proceedings in English and Te Reo Māori, and provide administrative support in the courtroom and chambers.
• Deliver front‑line customer service, handling enquiries face‑to‑face, by phone or email.
• Perform general court administration tasks and maintain liaison with judiciary and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Resilient and able to handle sensitive cases in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented with strong observational skills.
• Self‑aware, mature and positive when interacting with diverse customers.
• Capable of multitasking and shifting quickly between repetitive and urgent tasks.
• Eager to learn and adapt to changing legislation and procedures.
• Excellent communicator with good English and confident Te Reo Māori pronunciation; comfortable using audio‑visual equipment.
