Court Registry Officer – Auckland High Court

About the role

We are seeking a Court Registry Officer to join the Auckland High Court team within the Ministry of Justice. The role supports the smooth operation of the court by liaising with judges, legal professionals, and the public, ensuring that court processes run efficiently and courteously.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate court proceedings (court taking) including introducing judges in English and Te Reo Māori, assisting judges in the courtroom and chambers, and managing jurors.
• Provide front‑line customer service at the on‑site desk, responding to enquiries in person, by phone or email.
• Maintain accurate case files, perform data entry, and track case progress through the justice system.
• Liaise with defendants, witnesses, families, lawyers, police officers and other stakeholders as required.

Required profile

• Highly detail‑oriented and observant, with a strong focus on accuracy.
• Self‑aware and able to adapt communication style to a wide range of situations.
• Capable of multitasking and shifting quickly between repetitive and urgent tasks.
• Eager to learn and respond to evolving legislation and court procedures.
• Resilient when handling sensitive cases and high‑volume workloads.
