Country Manager, New Zealand

About the role

ALS is seeking an experienced, commercially‑focused Country Manager to lead its Food business in New Zealand. Reporting to the General Manager ANZ – Food & Pharmaceutical, you will own the strategic direction, operational performance and commercial success of the New Zealand operation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic plan for the New Zealand Food business.
• Drive operational excellence across laboratory, technical services, commercial and client‑service teams.
• Own the New Zealand P&L, budgets, revenue growth and profitability.
• Build and develop a high‑performing leadership team and future capability.
• Lead business development, client retention and market‑growth initiatives.
• Partner with ANZ and global teams to adopt best practices, new technologies and digital transformation.
• Ensure quality, HSE, regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
• Maintain strong relationships with key customers, regulators and industry bodies.
• Identify investment opportunities to support long‑term growth.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in laboratory operations or technical services.
• Proven success managing multi‑site or multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with full P&L responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategy.
• Experience leading organisational change and continuous improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Science, Food Technology, Engineering, Business or a related field.
