Controls Assurance Manager – Personal Banking

About the role

ASB is seeking a Controls Assurance Manager to join its Personal Banking Risk team. The role involves strengthening the control environment across Personal Banking by delivering assurance reviews, testing controls, and providing insights that help manage risk effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, conduct and report on Line 1 controls assurance reviews and testing across key business risks and obligations.
• Analyse results to identify control weaknesses, adverse trends and improvement opportunities.
• Build strong partnerships with stakeholders across Personal Banking, Risk and the broader assurance community.
• Contribute to the development of controls assurance practices, leveraging data analytics, automation and industry best practices.
• Support the delivery of assurance reporting and insights to leaders and decision‑makers.

Required profile

• At least five years’ experience in financial services or a professional environment such as audit, assurance, risk, compliance, legal or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of risk, compliance and assurance frameworks.
• Experience conducting assurance reviews, controls testing or risk assessments.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational abilities and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Collaborative, curious and proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
