Contract Manager / Quantity Surveyor

About the role

This position leads all post‑contract Quantity Surveying activities for residential and commercial projects across New Zealand. You will manage a portfolio of 20‑30 projects, ensuring cost‑effective delivery while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end post‑contract processes for multiple projects ranging from $30K to over $1 million.
• Oversee back costing, job performance, and margin analysis.
• Review, negotiate, and administer contracts and variations, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
• Collaborate with regional operations and sales teams to drive delivery performance.
• Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and set clear expectations for staff on variations.
• Develop relationships with key suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
• Coordinate with delivery teams to resource projects correctly and order materials within allowances.
• Provide accurate costing spreadsheets for entry into Lentune for back costing.

Required profile

• 3+ years of Quantity Surveying experience in vertical construction on commercial buildings.
• 2+ years of post‑contract QS experience in New Zealand, including interior fit‑out projects.
• Experience with a major New Zealand contractor is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel nationwide for site visits.
