Contract Chief Financial Officer

About the role

Eden, a family‑owned importer, manufacturer and wholesaler of commercial seating, is seeking an experienced Contract Chief Financial Officer. The role is part‑time (1‑2 days per week on‑site) for up to 24 months, supporting the Finance Manager and building internal finance capability across its New Zealand and Australian operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain multi‑entity ANZ group management accounts and consolidation framework.
• Lead monthly three‑way forecasting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and reporting cadence.
• Develop financial standards, policies and reporting for the new Australian entity.
• Establish project finance framework for international Ontask projects, including WIP, claims and job‑level reporting.
• Oversee AU/NZ tax compliance, transfer pricing and commercial finance activities.
• Review and improve pricing systems, gross profit analysis and margin management.
• Define FX hedging strategy, working capital optimisation and capital budgeting methodology.
• Provide coaching and capability‑building for the Financial Controller and broader finance team.
• Support M&A opportunity assessment and due‑diligence activities.

Required profile

• Extensive CFO experience in importing and manufacturing environments.
• Proven track record in both large organisations and SMEs, preferably with Trans‑Tasman, multi‑entity and M&A exposure.
• Hands‑on, execution‑focused mindset with ability to roll up sleeves and drive results.
• Analytically rigorous and comfortable working in detail while coaching others.
