Consultant Plastic Surgeon (Specialist)

About the role

Waikato Hospital is seeking a Consultant Plastic Surgeon to join its busy tertiary Plastic Surgery service. The role involves delivering acute, elective, outpatient and regional outreach care across the Waikato and wider Midland Region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality plastic and reconstructive surgical care to a diverse patient population.
• Participate in acute, elective and outpatient surgical lists, as well as regional outreach clinics.
• Contribute to teaching of medical officers, registrars and students.
• Lead or support quality‑improvement initiatives and service development projects.

Required profile

• Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
• Experience at consultant level or readiness to start a consultant career.
• Interest in subspecialties such as Hand Surgery, Cleft Lip & Palate, Breast, Head & Neck, or Burns.
