Consultant Haematologist – Wellington Regional Hospital

About the role

The Wellington Blood and Cancer Haematology Service is seeking a Consultant Haematologist to deliver comprehensive specialist care across malignant and non‑malignant haematology. Candidates with expertise or a strong interest in Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) are especially encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients referred to the haematology service.
• Lead outpatient clinics, inpatient care and laboratory oversight.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and operational areas to ensure seamless patient pathways.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance and teaching activities.
• Work closely with the Clinical Leader of Oncology and the Director of Medical Services.

Required profile

• Medical qualification and specialist registration in haematology.
• Experience in both malignant and non‑malignant haematology conditions.
• Demonstrated interest or expertise in bone marrow transplantation.
• Commitment to patient‑centred, high‑quality care and collaborative practice.
