Consultant Haematologist

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant Haematologist to join the Wellington Blood and Cancer Haematology Service. The role involves providing specialist care for both malignant and non‑malignant haematological conditions across multiple hospitals in the Wellington region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred clinical care in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards and laboratory settings.
• Lead clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients referred to the service.
• Provide expertise in bone‑marrow and stem‑cell transplantation, including autologous, allogeneic and CAR‑T therapy.
• Oversee plasma‑exchange procedures and management of haemostasis and thrombosis disorders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, the Clinical Leader of Oncology and the Director of Medical Services.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance and teaching activities.

Required profile

• Qualified consultant‑level haematologist, registered with the relevant medical board.
• Demonstrated experience in malignant and non‑malignant haematology.
• Special interest or expertise in bone‑marrow transplantation is strongly encouraged.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary environments.
