Compliance Officer – Export Controls & Regulatory Affairs

About the role

Dawn Aerospace is seeking a Compliance Officer to support export‑control and regulatory compliance across its global aerospace operations. The role is hands‑on and involves working closely with engineering, operations, supply chain and commercial teams to embed compliance requirements into everyday activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support export‑control, strategic‑goods and sanctions compliance programmes in New Zealand and international sites.
• Assess customers, suppliers, partners and transactions for export‑control and sanctions risks.
• Review exports, technology transfers, software and data flows for regulatory obligations.
• Monitor New Zealand and international regulations and translate them into internal guidance.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, workflows, training materials and compliance records.
• Assist with licence applications, regulatory submissions and liaison with government agencies.
• Conduct internal compliance reviews, audits and maintain supporting documentation.
• Act as the first point of contact for day‑to‑day compliance queries.

Required profile

• Background in compliance, engineering, aerospace, defence, legal, government, international trade, quality or regulatory affairs.
• Detail‑oriented, curious and comfortable working in a structured, regulated environment.
• Early‑career professionals or those transitioning into compliance are encouraged to apply.

Required skills

• Knowledge of export‑control regulations and sanctions regimes.
• Familiarity with strategic‑goods controls and technology‑transfer requirements.
• Ability to interpret regulatory texts and create practical internal processes.
