Community Broker – Papakura Local Board

About the role
The Community Broker for the Papakura Local Board will work within Auckland Council to strengthen resilient communities and support the delivery of local board priorities. This permanent, full‑time position is based in the Papakura rohe and involves regular travel across the local communities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic insights and leadership, linking council, community groups and elected members to drive positive change.
- Broker opportunities, increase the value of outcomes and maintain strong relationships with community delivery teams, local board members and diverse cultural and social organisations.
- Serve as a trusted source of local intelligence, ensuring equitable outcomes through informed decision‑making by elected members.
- Support Māori and broader community initiatives to enhance wellbeing.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in community development, preferably with both grassroots and senior advisory or governance exposure.
- Proven ability to build and nurture high‑trust relationships across diverse communities.
- Strong political judgement and sensitivity to inspire confidence of elected members.
- Excellent communication, analytical and strategic thinking skills.
