Communications Advisor

About the role

The Communications Advisor will support Tourism New Zealand’s strategy by delivering high‑quality internal and external corporate communications. Working across the country and with offshore offices, you will help shape clear messaging for the tourism industry and protect the organisation’s reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver internal and external communications and engagement activities.
• Produce and edit content for digital, internal and external channels.
• Manage digital channels, including content planning, analytics and optimisation.
• Support media activities by drafting press releases and other media materials.
• Maintain and update website content using a content management system.
• Use AI and other digital tools to enhance communication outputs.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to ensure effective communication delivery.

Required profile

• Strong written communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Well‑developed interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
• Tertiary qualification in communications or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of corporate communications experience.
• Understanding of the New Zealand context, cultural awareness and diverse audience needs.
