Communications Account Executive – Auckland

About the role

DARKHORSE is seeking a Communications Account Executive to join its integrated comms team in Auckland. You will work on high‑profile global and local brands, blending PR, social, events and activation to deliver compelling campaigns. The role offers a dynamic environment where no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of client accounts day‑to‑day, acting as the primary point of contact across multiple campaigns and retainers.
• Write client‑ready materials such as press releases, media pitches, briefing documents, talking points and coverage reports.
• Develop and pitch story ideas to New Zealand media, cultivating relationships with journalists, editors and content creators.
• Track and measure PR campaign effectiveness, reporting on performance and media coverage.
• Support planning and execution of campaigns, events and activations from brief through to wrap‑up.
• Collaborate with strategy and creative teams, contributing ideas and perspectives to integrated solutions.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience in a PR agency or communications role.
• Passion for media, consumer brands and staying up‑to‑date with industry trends.
• Exceptional written communication skills across multiple formats and tones.
• Confidence in pitching to media and building journalist relationships.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to juggle competing priorities.
• Enjoys collaborative work with internal teams and clients.
