Commercial Solar Design Engineer

About the role

Fisher & Paykel Home Solutions is looking for an experienced Commercial Solar Design Engineer to join its Design Services team in Auckland. This is a true engineering design role: you will create technically robust solar and energy solutions for commercial and industrial clients, working alongside Sales, Installation, Product and Service teams. The company has a strong pipeline of commercial and industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed commercial solar and energy system designs that balance engineering excellence, regulatory compliance and commercial viability.
• Interpret specifications and develop detailed drawings, and carry out energy modelling and system optimisation.
• Work on commercial and industrial solar PV systems, sustainable building integrations, HVAC and hot-water system considerations, and load calculations.
• Provide design guidance to support project delivery and improve design standards, tools and technical capability.

Required profile

• Three or more years' experience designing commercial solar systems; experience in HVAC or hot water systems is highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS standards including 4777, 5033, 5139 and 4509, and a sound understanding of building codes and construction practices.
• Well-developed analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work across multiple design projects.
• Naturally collaborative, customer-focused and curious, with a commitment to health and safety.

Required skills

• Industry design and modelling software such as SolarPlus, PVSyst, TRNSYS or Revit.
