Commercial Manager – Agriculture (Sandton)

About the role

The client, a leading player in the agricultural sector, is seeking a Commercial Manager to shape and execute the retail commercial strategy for its Sandton operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will work closely with sales, marketing, operations, supply chain and finance to drive growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement integrated retail and commercial strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Lead category management, pricing, promotional and seasonal plans to maximise market share and margins.
• Monitor retail P&L, forecast, budget and conduct variance analysis.
• Optimise depot inventory and manage order‑bank processes to ensure clean pipelines and revenue realisation.
• Analyse market trends, customer behaviour and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
• Drive product portfolio optimisation across crop segments and lead R&D initiatives for commercial innovation.
• Build dashboards, reporting tools and KPI frameworks for data‑driven decision‑making.
• Coach and develop high‑performing sales and commercial teams and ensure cross‑functional alignment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics or related field (MBA advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years senior experience in commercial, sales or retail leadership within agriculture or related industries.
• Proven track record of revenue growth, margin improvement and strategic execution.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L management and cost optimisation.
