Clinical Nurse Manager – Aged Care

About the role

This permanent position offers an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager the chance to lead a multidisciplinary team within a well‑established aged‑care service that includes retirement village living, rest home, hospital, respite and dementia care. You will balance clinical excellence with strategic thinking to improve resident outcomes and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership, coaching and support to Registered Nurses and care teams.
• Oversee clinical governance, care planning and resident outcomes.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with Health NZ standards.
• Prepare for and support audits, maintaining robust clinical systems.
• Monitor clinical indicators, identify improvement opportunities and act on them.
• Contribute to staffing, resource planning and budget management.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Foster a collaborative, supportive and accountable team culture.

Required profile

• Current New Zealand Registered Nurse (APC) with leadership experience in aged‑care.
• Strong knowledge of aged‑care legislation, quality standards and audit processes.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor and inspire clinical teams.
• Excellent organisational, problem‑solving, communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of operational performance.

Required skills

• Experience using the interRAI assessment system.
• Knowledge of clinical governance frameworks and Health NZ standards.
